1. Catholic News Service reports: "Pope Francis asked Catholics around the world to pray for tens of thousands of Christians from villages in northeastern Iraq who were forced from their homes in the middle of the night by Islamic State militants."

2. Pope Francis has named Father Bohdan J. Danylo, 43, rector of St. Basil Seminary, in Stamford, Connecticut, as bishop the Ukrainian Eparchy of St. Josaphat in Parma, Ohio.
